Another Act of Terror:
Israel continues its psychological war on Gaza
The Palestinian Counseling Center (PCC) vehemently condemns Israel’s current assault on Gaza and its use of psychological warfare against the Palestinian population.
Reports have flooded in during the past three days, including to the PCC, of families in panic who have received warning calls issued by Israel alerting them to immediately evacuate areas that that they are about to attack. Fears generated from these calls are all the more exacerbated due to Israel’s blockade of Gaza, which prevents Palestinian residents from entering and exiting the small strip of land freely.Families in Gaza thus have nowhere to flee to, with or without warning. Such tactics have been used repeatedly in Israel’s previous assaults dating back to the start of its occupation in 1948, including its wages against Gaza in December 2008 and November 2012.
Like those before, this assault is not waged simply through physical violence but also through strategically calculated psychological violence. Israel’s assault has two primary aims: to garner the greatest number of casualties and to terrorize the population of Gaza in its entirety in order to break their collective will.
The Palestinian Counseling Center therefore calls on the international community to demand an immediate end to Israel’s use of psychological warfare as well as its military force against the people of Gaza, both of which are forms of collective warfare that amount to war crimes under the Fourth Geneva Convention.
